If you're looking for a cartridge that has great muzzle velocity, fantastic ballistic coefficients, is flat-shooting, and has solid penetration stats, then look no further than the 7mm Remington Magnum, or more simply, the 7mm Rem Mag. It is a popular cartridge that has spawned some popular new variants in recent years, including the 7mm PRC, 7mm Weatherby, 7mm Ultra Mag, 7mm-08, and the latest - the 7mm Backcountry. While we're primarily talking the "Seven Mag" for this story, this list covers the best 7mm suppressors for all of the variations.
History lessons
Remington wanted to take on the might Winchester Model 70 bolt-action rifle, and wanted to do so in a big way. Their answer was the Model 700, the rifle that has now gone on to become one of the most iconic designs in firearm lore. To make an even bigger splash, Remington launches it in 1962 with a new cartridge, a belted magnum with a 7mm bullet at the core. The cartridge was based off another favorite round, the .375 H&H. The 7mm Rem Mag cartridge quickly found a place alongside cartridges like the .30-06 Springfield and .264 Win Mag.
To some shooters, the 7mm Rem Mag represents perfection. It shoots flat, carry a lot of energy with it and can be loaded with bigger bullets for game such as elk and moose, or loaded down for deer and pronghorn.
The best 7mm Rem Mag Suppressors
Personally, I am extremely fond of the 7mm Rem Mag. My go-to rifle is, oddly enough, a Winchester Model 70 chambered for the 7. Here are the best 7mm suppressors available now and why you should buy one for your rifle based on experience and what our customers have to say, too.
DEAD AIR NOMAD LTI XC
Carrying the XC in the name is your first clue as to why this can made the list for the best 7mm Rem Mag suppressors. It is lightweight and ready for hikes deep into the backwoods, chasing around deer, elk and more. The Ti in the name stands for the Grade 5 6A1-4V titanium used in the construction to keep weight low and strength high. It is the “L” designation that is the kicker here. It is a longer version of the Nomad XC series that adds additional sound suppression for your rifle, while still retaining the lightweight required for a true deep-country hunting can.
The Dead Air Nomad LTi XC uses an enhanced version of Dead Air's Nomad baffles with a two-stage coaxial baffle system that uses new pressure-harnessing structures to regulate both low-pressure and high-pressure rounds. This also gives the LTi XC better sound reduction while keeping the weight down to just 9.9 ounces. The Nomad LTi XC has a replaceable front cap, and the outer Grade 5 6A1-4V titanium shell has aggressive tooling built in to help with mounting. The LTi XC uses Dead Air’s Xeno adapter, but the modularity of the HUB socket allows for adapters to easily be swapped out with other HUB Adapters for flexibility.

Why We Like It:
Lightweight
Great for the 7mm Rem Mag
What our customers said:
"Excellent noise and recoil reduction has functioned flawlessly on every host I've put it on including non adjustable gas block ar platforms that wouldn't run with some of my other cans. Mine actually weighed in a half oz under the listed spec. If you're in the market for a lightweight 30 cal silencer for hunting or fun get this one you won't regret it." - Alex
You might be thinking, "Sure, of course they will include the BANISH can." We did, not because we had to, but because it is really that good. In fact, the BANISh Backcountry is so good that Federal created a new cartridge around it - the 7mm Backcountry. And to add to that, RMEF had adopted the Backcountry Bugle as their official suppressor. It is a terrific option for the 7mm Rem Mag and any of the other 7mm variations, including 7mm PRC, 7mm Backcountry, and more.
The Backcountry is a fixed-length suppressor that measures 5.5” in length (5.7 with mount) and weighs just 7.8 ounces. That’s a full 1.3” shorter and 2.2 ounces lighter than the BANISH 30 in its short configuration. That may not sound like much, but it makes a world of difference for backcountry adventurers who carefully pack their gear with size and weight in mind.
Rated for calibers up to the .300 Remington Ultra Magnum (RUM) - and yes, that includes the 7mm RUM, too, the BANISH Backcountry utilizes six baffles that drop the decibel level down to 135 dB for .308 Winchester, 137 dB for .300 Win Mag, and 138 dB for .300 RUM at the ear – all of which fall below the hearing-safe threshold.
Utilizing a 1.375×24 Universal Mount, the BANISH Backcountry is a direct-thread suppressor designed to eliminate any extra weight associated with a muzzle device method of attachment, but it is also available with an optional muzzle brake attachment.
Why we like the BANISH Backcountry:
One of the quietest cans in its size range
Lightweight
User serviceable
What our customers think:
"Needed a small lightweight silencer to pack in the mountain on a short gun in a scabbard and the Backcountry was perfect. I'm very happy with the silencer." Richard B.
7mm suppressor size must always be considered when pairing with a specific cartridge and type of rifle. Given the diameter of a 7mm bullet, you'll need to go with a .30 caliber suppressor. As you've seen above, all of our selections are in that family and it gives you great caliber diversification.
Of course, barrel length and overall length are also a concern. You don't want a rifle that's so long that it becomes unwieldy when paired with a suppressor. If you choose to go the SBR (short barrel rifle) route, then you can obviously get away with a suppressor that's a bit longer, or at least on the longer end of our preferred range.
The 7mm Backcountry was developed as a short-barreled alternative to work specifically with suppressors. In fact, as I mentioned earlier, the 7mm Backcountry was developed with the BANISH Backcountry as the ultimate 7mm suppressor for hunting. It's pretty interesting for sure.
