The popularity of the Taurus TX-22 rimfire pistol is quite high as are Taurus TX 22 Suppressors. These affordable pistols have outstanding out-of-the-box accuracy and reliability. Of course, we were happy to see that a threaded barrel option exists, as a rimfire pistol is a great platform for a suppressor. If you have a TX-22 with a threaded barrel and have been wondering which are the best suppressors for it, wonder no more.
Why is the TX 22 so popular?
That is an easy question to answer. It is an affordable and accurate pistol that has controls laid out to mimic standard centerfire pistols, making it a great training aid in a cheaper-to-shoot platform. It’s also quite accurate, which makes it interesting because, as you know, we hold accuracy as a gold standard for making a firearm interesting.
The competition version of the TX-22 is a hot-rodded version that had a threaded bull barrel and a cutout for optics mounting. These are proving to be great pistols for shooters looking to get into more serious shooting techniques, and, of course, suppressed rimfire shooting.
We test a lot of suppressors and we test a lot of guns along with them. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it, right? Because of this, we've spent a lot of time sending bullets down range and through various cans. These are our top picks for the Taurus TX 22 rimfire pistol.

"So far, So GOOD! This thing is the long configuration on my Ruger American 22 with CCI 1000fps, Stupid, and I mean stupid QUIET. . . Phhhhh. . . Thats all you hear. I tested a whole bunch of different ammo to see what worked consistent out to 100-110yards, and CCI was the big winner, but all the stuff I shot with out ear protection for the first time in my adult life, and it was AWESOME! Silencer Central made the process a breeze,. . . Gotta do my taxes now so I can buy my next can with a refund(hopefully). " - RugerTim
Another great performer at the TBAC summit, the BANISH 22 suppressor is designed for use with rimfire pistols and rifles chambered in .22 caliber and smaller. This includes .22 Hornet, .17HMR, and even 5.7x28. It’s even rated for full-auto. We tested it with the Taurus TX 22 and it was really outstanding in terms of being quiet.
Using 1/2x28 threads for direct attachment, the BANISH 22 is made of lightweight titanium, weighs just 4.1oz, is 1 inches in diameter, and only 5 ⅜ in. long. This means you’ll barely even notice that the BANISH 22 is on the end of your gun - except when it comes to sound reduction.
Tests have shown that the BANISH 22 brings the sound down to about 120 decibels, making it barely louder than a BB-gun. Essentially, this is as close to “Hollywood quiet” as you can get. The Banish 22 at the muzzle tested at 116.8 dB on a 22LR with a 16" barrel and 117.6 dB at the muzzle on the Taurus TX 22.

The Taurus TX 22 rimfire pistol is more popular than many expect it to be, and it works great with a suppressor. Photos by Ryan Grant.
There are always factors that go into selecting suppressors for a list like this. Number one when looking at Taurus TX 22 best suppressors is that it has to be a product that works with the particular host firearm. After all, it would make no sense at all to have a story about the best cans for a certain pistol if, in fact, the cans didn't work with said pistol.
Next up, they have to be quiet. Who wants a suppressor that can't suppress, right? We don't sell any of those kinds of cans, but some do work better than others for a particular firearm. It helps that we had access to all of the sweet data that came from the 2025 TBAC Sound Summit, including the rimfire winner from that event.
We also combed through our customer reviews and found that there were several of you that have a Taurus TX 22 and bought a can from us for that pistol. That you did and you were happy enough to write a review says a lot to us. We listen to our customers and relish the feedback you give us. Thank you!
Yes, you can get one from the factory with a threaded barrel that accepts 1/2x28 thread pitch cans.
With the proper rimfire suppressor, yes a TX 22 cycles just fine. In the competition model, the company moved the sight to work better with the action. This is a very reliable pistol with a suppressor.
You can buy subsonic ammo for a .22 pistol and get about as close to "Hollywood quiet" as you can actually get with a real suppressor.
While many suppressors can be used on several different caliber firearms, we have some specific models that can make your shooting more enjoyable. Pick the caliber that you have in mind. If you don’t see your caliber, pick one close to it to see our recommendations.
