One question we get a lot is, how does it work to buy a suppressor or silencer from Silencer Central? Our goal is to make it super easy, and we've spent the last 20 years really focusing on that key component. Watch the video to get it straight from Silencer Central founder and CEO, Brandon Maddox.
Getting started
The first thing is simple. We help you select a suppressor. You can go on this website and shop the latest selection. You can call us and talk to one of our live salespeople, or you can buy at an event. We have the biggest selection of suppressors on the market and we have inventory, too. This means once you determine the suppressor you want, we likely have it in stock and ready to send to your door.
But once you buy, you're going to get some paperwork from us that you will fill out digitally. Then, once you fill out that digitally, you submit it to us. We're also going to need a photo of you, so basically you could use your phone, upload that to us.
We're also going to need your fingerprints, so we mail to you via two-day priority US mail, fingerprint cards with instructions on how to fill them in. You roll your own fingerprints, put them in the prepaid package that comes back to us.
Once we get all that information in our system, we will then do a quick call with you as the customer. This is just to verify that everything we have completed is correct. We upload all that information to the ATF's e-forms website.
Approvals
Right now, we are seeing quick turnarounds. After that, the next step is approval from the ATF. When you see the approval come, you'll get notified the same time we do. Then we can mail that suppressor directly to your front door. There are a few small steps, such as notifying your local CLEO, but we have worked to be able do that digitally now, too. This tremendously speeds up that process.
We realize it may be a little different than what you expected. Our goal in the last 20 years is to make the process super simple, so we have really streamlined the entire process. If you ever have questions while you are going through the process, you can always call our full-time customer service team here, or even a sales rep if you talk to one directly.
No, you do not. We have worked hard to make the process easy to buy a silencer from the comfort of your couch, and have it mailed to your door. This process is perfectly legal and easy in all 42 states where suppressor ownership is legal.
Not at all. We have streamlined the process and worked with the ATF to make the paperwork easy. We do all the hard stuff for you and our process is pain free and easy, with a high degree of accuracy.
You should buy from us because you get to pick the suppressor you want from our massive inventory, and have it sent to your door, all from the comfort of your living room. We make the paperwork easy, offer a free trust setup, and provide service after the sale. We earn your business and wouldn't have it any other way.
As of now, the tax stamp process is staying as it has for decades. However, the fee is going away as of January 1, 2026. You won't have to pay extra for a suppressor as the $200 fee is going to zero.
A trust is important with a suppressor in that it allows you to control who has access to your suppressor. You can add people to your trust and they can legally use and possess your suppressor when you're not with them. It gives you greater flexibility in ownership and we feel it is pretty important to give you more of the rights you deserve. That's why we offer a trust free with your silencer purchase and set it up for you 100% free of charge.
While many suppressors can be used on several different caliber firearms, we have some specific models that can make your shooting more enjoyable. Pick the caliber that you have in mind. If you don’t see your caliber, pick one close to it to see our recommendations.
