One question we get a lot is, how does it work to buy a suppressor or silencer from Silencer Central? Our goal is to make it super easy, and we've spent the last 20 years really focusing on that key component. Watch the video above to get it straight from Silencer Central founder and CEO, Brandon Maddox.
Getting started
The first thing is simple. We help you select a suppressor. You can go on this website and shop the latest selection.. You can call us and talk to one of our live salespeople, or you can buy at an event. We have a lot of suppressors available, and add more all the time. We try to keep up with inventory, and will work to make sure we have what you are looking for.
Once you buy a suppressor, you're going to get some paperwork from us that you will fill out digitally. Then, once you fill out that digitally, you submit it to us. We're also going to need a photo of you, so basically you could use your phone, upload that to us.
We're also going to need your fingerprints, so we mail to you via two-day priority US mail, fingerprint cards with instructions on how to fill them in. You roll your own fingerprints, put them in the prepaid package that comes back to us. We also accept electronic fingerprint submissions, too.
Once we get all that information in our system, you can self-certify, or we can do a quick call with you as the customer. This is just to verify that everything is completed and is correct. This information is uploaded to the ATF's e-forms website.
Approvals
The next step is approval from the ATF. When you see the approval come, you'll get notified the same time we do. Approvals are coming in pretty fast once again. There is no fee for the Federal Stamp, but as of now, they still require you to have one. We're working to get suppressors deregulated entirely, but until that happens, if it does, we still have to abide by the rules and that means you need the stamp. We have worked on your behalf to streamline the process as much as possible.
Your suppressor gets mailed to your front door through our FFLs that are in every state where suppressors are legal. There are a few small steps, such as notifying your local CLEO, but we have worked to be able do that digitally now, too. This tremendously speeds up that process.
We realize it may be a little different than what you expected. Our goal in the last 20+ years is to make the process super simple, so we have really streamlined the entire process. If you ever have questions while you are going through the process, you can always call our full-time customer service team here, or even a sales rep if you talk to one directly.
If there is one thing we focused on, it is having the best customer service in the industry. We are here to help you! Online chat services are available, or you can talk directly to an expert who can help answer any question you have. We can get you on the way to owning a suppressor in no time!
No, you do not. We have worked hard to make the process easy to buy a silencer from the comfort of your couch, and have it mailed to your door. This process is perfectly legal and easy in all 42 states where suppressor ownership is legal.
Not at all. We have streamlined the process and worked with the ATF to make the paperwork easy. We do all the hard stuff for you and our process is pain free and easy, with a high degree of accuracy.
You should buy from us because you get to pick the suppressor you want from our massive inventory, and have it sent to your door, all from the comfort of your living room. We make the paperwork easy, offer a free trust setup, and provide service after the sale. We earn your business and wouldn't have it any other way.
As of now, the tax stamp process is staying as it has for decades. However, the fee has gone away as of January 1, 2026. You won't have to pay extra for a suppressor as the $200 fee is gone.
A trust is important with a suppressor in that it allows you to control who has access to your suppressor. You can add people to your trust and they can legally use and possess your suppressor when you're not with them. It gives you greater flexibility in ownership and we feel it is pretty important to give you more of the rights you deserve. That's why we offer a trust free with your silencer purchase and set it up for you 100% free of charge.
While many suppressors can be used on several different caliber firearms, we have some specific models that can make your shooting more enjoyable. Pick the caliber that you have in mind. If you don’t see your caliber, pick one close to it to see our recommendations.
