Celebrate National Shooting Sports Month at the range

August kicks off National Shooting Sports Month, a time of year to celebrate getting some trigger time and help grow the shooting sports by getting others involved. Head to your local shooting range and have a good time!
The Foundation
National Shooting Sports Month was kicked in gear by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF). NSSF formed in 1961 as the trade association for the firearm industry. Its mission is to promote, protect, and preserve hunting and the shooting sports.
Silencer Central is a staunch supporter of NSSF’s mission to promote, protect and preserve hunting and the shooting sports. CEO Brandon Maddox was recently appointed to the NSSF Board of Governors. He has always been a firm believer of the good that can come from getting out and going to the gun range.
“I strongly encourage our customers to not just go to the shooting range this month, but invite someone new to go with them,” Maddox said. “Using a suppressor is great for new shooters in that it helps defeat the two biggest concerns a new shooter might have – noise and recoil. Getting new shooters to overcome any fears they might have is a big step in growing the shooting sports.”

August 2025 marks the 8th year for National Shooting Sports Month. It encourages all Americans to experience the excitement that comes from target shooting. The main goal is to promote safe and responsible firearm use. Ranges, retailers, manufacturers and industry partners across the country have joined with NSSF to promote the shooting sports.
Over 50 million Americans participate in target shooting at some level, according to NSSF. Millions more Americans want to try out at least some part of the shooting sports, too. This is a great opportunity to grow the sport. Reach out to someone new and take them to the range!
