The Ruger Mark IV is the latest generation of the Ruger Standard, which was introduced in 1949 and has been a best-selling pistol ever since in every interaction - Standard, Mark II, Mark III, and Mark IV.
The Mark IV pistol is an incredibly popular option for those who want to shoot rimfire rounds for fun or for introducing a new shooter to the hobby. It's even more fun when you're doing it suppressed!
Thankfully, this pistol is available from the factory with a threaded barrel, so the only thing you have to do is decide which suppressor you want to use. In this piece, we'll take a look at four of the most popular .22 caliber suppressors that we sell for the Ruger Mark IV.
DEAD AIR RXD22TI
If we're talking about suppressors for a Ruger pistol, we need to start with the suppressor designed with the team at Ruger. Dead Air Silencers and Ruger came together to offer an entirely new product line: RXD Suppressors. Dead Air developed this line of performance-driven suppressors and accessories to complement Ruger’s innovative firearms designs. RXD products are not reskins - they represent a new standard for suppressor design, performance, and maintainability.
Dead Air's new innovative RXD22Ti is comprised of a titanium tube surrounding a 3D printed single-piece Triskelion™ core. It comes with an all-new XRF muzzle brake specifically designed to enhance performance and capture lead.
We designed the Banish 22 to maximize your time shooting and minimize your time cleaning. Inside the tube are eight baffles that are engineered for a precise fit to keep lead debris and carbon buildup at an absolute minimum. This prevents the debris and buildup from reaching the tube, which causes components to fuse together.
Testing with the Banish 22 shows that it brings down the report of a shot down to 113 decibels, or barely more than a BB gun. The Banish 22 is made entirely of titanium. That is, both the tube and the eight individual baffles are all made from it. While the baffles are left bright, the tube is finished in Gun Kote.
The suppressor is a compact powerhouse, coming in at just 5 3/8” long, only 1” in diameter, and weighing a mere 4.1 ounces.
This silencer can be used on calibers as small as .17WSM and .17HMR and up to the 5.7x28mm cartridge. As an extra bonus, it's rated for full-auto fire, so go ahead and send it!
Rimfire ammo is a lot of fun, but it's definitely dirty to shoot. The ability to completely disassemble this suppressor is a big plus. Instead of using solvents or foams and hoping that you get all the nooks and crannies clean inside a sealed suppressor, the Banish 22 can be taken completely apart.
According to SilencerCo, the design for the Switchback was “inspired by technology used in rocket and jet propulsion, when oriented in one direction the front section exhibits the most competitive sound reduction on the market for pistols, but when the orientation is flipped the result is an unprecedented sound reduction on rifles.”
Tests for the Switchback show that the report is brought down to as low as 108 decibels in its long configuration on a rifle, and down to 142 decibels in its short configuration on a pistol.
The SilencerCo Switchback features stainless steel baffles and a titanium tube with a titanium finish. The Switchback can be configured at 2 ½”, 3.59”, or 5 ¾”, is just 1.07” in diameter, and weighs 3.2, 4.3, or 6.5 ounces.
Like the Banish 22 and the Sparrow, the Switchback can be used on calibers as small as .17WSM and .17HMR and up to the 5.7x28mm cartridge. As an extra bonus, it's rated for full-auto fire, so go ahead and send it!
The Rugged Oculus22 is a very adaptable rimfire suppressor. Being modular, you can make it shorter for your Ruger Mark IV pistol, or make it longer and run it on your Ruger 10/22.
The Oculus22 by Rugged is constructed from 100% 17-4 stainless steel making it extremely durable and capable of being cleaned by almost any cleaning method. Equipped with Rugged’s ADAPT™ modular technology you don’t have to choose between a long 22 caliber suppressor and a short one.
This suppressor features baffles with indexing tabs for a repeatable return to zero after cleaning. The keyed baffles create a gas seal to prevent carbon and gas build-up.
The Ruger Mark IV was introduced in 2016. It is the fourth generation of the Ruger iconic .22LR pistol. It is popular due to its significantly simplified, one-button takedown for easy cleaning, an ambidextrous safety, and a "drop-free" magazine release. These features addressed some common complaints about previous models while maintaining the classic look and performance.
The original Mark I from 1949, incorporating design cues from Luger pistols. The design also evolved into models like the 22/45, which has the same grip design as the 1911, making that pistol a great training tool. One thing is certain, the Ruger brand what most people think of when it comes to .22LR pistols. Adding a suppressor is a great way to enjoy these pistols even more.

A suppressed rimfire pistol will be very quiet. In fact it is as close as you can get to "movie quiet" as you can actually get. It won't be completely silent, but the sound output is greatly reduced. It is well below the hearing safe threshold.
While many suppressors can be used on several different caliber firearms, we have some specific models that can make your shooting more enjoyable. Pick the caliber that you have in mind. If you don’t see your caliber, pick one close to it to see our recommendations.
