The 6.5 Creedmoor, introduced by Hornady in 2007, has become one of the most popular cartridges on the market today. It has diehard supporters as well as steadfast detractors, but that’s to be expected with just about every caliber out there. Named for the Creedmoor long-range shooting facility that once called Queens, New York, home, the 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge was designed for – you guessed it – long-range shooting of 1,000 yards or more. The cartridge is known for the balance between long-range capabilities and light felt recoil. This helped make it an almost instant hit. As more manufacturers jumped on board with rifles chambered for it, the 6.5 became the caliber on everyone's radar. From there, it wasn't much of a stretch to see which suppressors work the best for the 6.5 Creedmoor.
WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN BUYING A 6.5 CREEDMOOR SUPPRESSOR
Versatility is the name of the game with the 6.5 Creedmoor, and so that’s what you’ll be looking to find when shopping for a suppressor to go with this cartridge.
Is there a 6.5 Creedmoor-specific Suppressor?
While there are some suppressors on the market that are designed specifically for this round, the majority of the ones that you’ll find that handle 6.5 Creedmoor are also perfectly suited to a variety of other similarly-sized calibers. This is a good thing because you’ll more than likely end up with a can that is capable of use on a number of different firearm hosts that you own.
Do I need to consider my rifle's design when picking a 6.5 Creedmoor suppressor?
Make sure, too, that you consider your host gun when buying a suppressor. Look at the host gun’s weight, overall length, and what you’ll be using it for. A suppressor of one weight and length might be fine for bench shooting, but might be a bit much for humping through the countryside all day on a hunt. Remember: ounces equal pounds, and pounds equal pain.
Once you’ve got a ballpark weight and length in mind, then you can consider other things like mounting options, accessory compatibility, and, of course, price.

Best 6.5 CM Suppressor - BANISH 30-V2
The best selling suppressor on the market has been updated making it shorter, lighter and with an industry-standard HUB mount. The BANISH 30-V2 is a .30-caliber suppressor that can do it all and be used on firearms from .17 HMR up through .300 WBY. It is outstanding with the 6.5 Creedmoor, and makes the round more accurate while being quieter, too.
Built from 100% titanium, the 30-V2 is user-serviceable and modular, allowing users to run it in a long, 8.17-inch configuration, or shorten it to 6.4 inches when a lighter more compact solution is preferred. At full length, the suppressor has 11 baffles, and weighs 12.4 oz. The shorter configuration still offers eight baffles and weighs just 9.5 oz. In the long configuration, tested on a rifle chambered for .308, noise reduction was an outstanding 34.5 dB, well below the hearing safe threshold.
With the new HUB mount, you can quickly use your 30-V2 on different firearms by using BANISH direct-thread HUB mounts. The BANISH 30-V2 offers you versatility with sound suppression, recoil reduction, and increased accuracy across a wide range of firearms, making it the perfect choice.
Dead Air suppressors are extremely popular and with good reason - they are pretty sweet. The Dead Air Sandman-X is the next evolution of a suppressor icon, celebrating 10 years of the legendary Sandman-S with cutting-edge advancements in durability and performance. Precision-built using additive manufacturing (3D printing), the Sandman-X is built from Haynes 282, allowing it to be full-auto rated and withstand extreme firing schedules. You can do a lot of mag dumps with your 6.5 Creedmoor and this can will keep on running just fine.
Staying true to its roots, the Sandman-X is available with a KeyMo or Xeno mount, ensuring a rock-solid, repeatable lock-up for seamless transitions between firearm hosts. The advanced 3D-printed design optimizes gas flow and reduces backpressure, providing enhanced performance while maintaining the trusted reliability that shooters have depended on for a decade.
The BANISH 30 Gold-V2 started out as a refined version of the 30 Gold, with the addition of an industry standard HUB mount. What we found during testing is that the bigger blast chamber of the 30 Gold-V2 is the superior choice for AR-10 platforms, which happens to be a popular version of the 6.5 Creedmoor caliber options.
What really sets the 30 GOLD-V2 apart is how refined and versatile it is. Rated for calibers from rimfire up to 300 RUM, exhaustive internal testing has shown that the BANISH 30 GOLD V2 reduces the sound of the shot by 36 decibels thanks to the 11 baffles. That lowers the average sound level heard by shooters down to an astonishing 132.9 decibels.
The BANISH 30 GOLD-V2 is 8.2 inches long and is made from our titanium alloy. It gives the 30 Gold V2 unmatched durability and makes it extremely lightweight at just 13 ounces.
Advantages:
Best AR-10 can
User-serviceable
Quiet
Disadvantages:
There's not really any disadvantage to the 30 Gold-V2 if you're using an AR-10 platform rifle for the 6.5

Suppressors aren’t cheap, especially when you’re talking about ones that can handle rifle calibers. More often than not, you can expect to spend north of a grand
That’s why the Yankee Hill Machine Resonator R2, which has an MSRP of $719, takes the slot for the best budget 6.5 Creedmoor suppressor.
To be clear, though, when we say “budget” we don’t mean cheap in terms of quality. YHM created the R2 with the intent to provide shooters of all types with a quiet and cost-effective silencer. The R2 can be used on calibers ranging from .17HMR through 300 RUM, which means 6.5 Creedmoor fits nicely within that range.
To make things even better, YHM redesigned the Resonator that we tested, and this is the Resonator R2, which is even better than before. This suppressor uses a tubeless design made of stainless steel with an Inconel blast baffle, which means it’s also rated for full auto performance.
Compatible with other YHM mounts and QD adapters, you won’t have to buy extra accessories if you’ve already got a YHM suppressor. Plus, it’s an extremely affordable suppressor for what you’re getting.
Advantages:
Recently redesigned for even better overall performance
Fantastic sound suppression
Great price for what you get
Disadvantages:
Minimum barrel length requirements of 10.5” for 7.62×39 (of course, not an issue with 6.5 Creedmoor)

At just 15.6 ounces, with a 9.5-inch length, the Hyperion is constructed of titanium for a light weight yet highly durable silencer. This CGS suppressor also boasts a 1.75-inch diameter, also leading to its noteworthy sound reduction.
Featuring two separate front end caps, a low profile front end cap and a vented end cap, the CGS Hyperion is optimized for precision shooting. CGS’s design is even left handed friendly for shooters using semi auto host firearms to comfortably shoot due to its reduced blowback. This CGS silencer also includes shallow taper joints which allows for optimal concentricity and retention. Its durability, modularity, and sound reduction truly make the CGS Hyperion shine.
The Hyperion is threaded in 5/8x 24 and will properly direct thread onto any barrel that is threaded in 5/8x24 and has a machined 25 degree taper. A Hyperion Thread Adapter is required to properly seat a Hyperion onto any barrel with a 90 degree shoulder. The only exception is if the crown of the barrel is .736 inches or wider.
Advantages:
Fantastic sound suppression
Lefty friendly
Lightweight yet durable titanium construction
Disadvantages:
Vented end cap is a separate purchase
Limited availability means it goes out of stock quickly
The 6.5 isn't known for speed, but it is a very accurate round. It also tends to carry itself well after the bullet leaves the barrel, making it popular for longer ranges. That said, it is a very good idea to suppress the 6.5 as it helps stabilize the bullet, and any suppressed firearm is better for your hearing.
To get maximum velocity from your 6.5 Creedmoor, a 24-26 inch barrel is best. With a suppressor attached, you can go on the shorter side of that scale, but anything barrel 24-26 inches is what you want.
With most 6.5 Creedmoor rounds, the bullet will slow to subsonic speeds between 1,000 and 1,250 yards from the muzzle. This all depends on the bullet weight and shape, but for match-grade bullets, the distance is at the higher end. This is what makes the 6.5 so popular with long-ranger shooters.
Quite the contrary. A suppressor has proven to tighten groups at longer ranges and using one has no impact upon effective range for a 6.5 Creedmoor or any other cartridge.
The most common barrel twist rate for 6.5 Creedmoor is 1:8. Some builders have found success with a 1:9 twist rate, but those rifles are more dependent upon select ammo. Both work well suppressed.
