The Best Suppressors for .22-250 Rifles

The .22-250 Remington cartridge has an interesting history. If you’re looking for a cartridge that shoots flat, accurate, and far, then the .22-250 Remington is perfect. It’ll do what the .223 Remington (or 5.56 NATO) does but at a greater distance. It’s a very popular round, particularly with varmint hunters. Because of that application, it isn’t as well-known in Europe as it is in North America due to their lack of varmint hunting opportunities.

Around 1937, the .22-250 Remington was a wildcat cartridge that had come into being based on the .25-3000 Savage from 15 years earlier. This caliber was essentially a handload-only offering for the first three decades of its life, requiring loaders to neck down the cases before use, until Remington began making factory loads in 1965.

We said earlier that the .22-250 will shoot far, and we mean it. We’re talking 300 to 400 yards, and the round is totally up to that challenge so long as the shooter is capable. It’s recommended that you use 40-grain or 50-grain bullets for shots of 200 yards or less and 55-grain or 60-grain bullets for longer shots.

Of course, the only thing better than taking a precision, long-range shot at a varmint with a rifle chambered in .22-250 Remington is doing it with a rifle that’s equipped with a suppressor.

Because the .22-250 has a bullet diameter of .224″, there are a wide variety of suppressors on the market that you can choose from in calibers such as 5.56/.223, .30-caliber, and even 6.5- caliber. While far from all-inclusive, these are our top four picks for .22-250 suppressors. We chose them for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is that they’re all compatible with other calibers to offer you the most versatility.

Dead Air Sandman-S

Dead Air’s Sandman suppressors have great reputations and with good reason. The Sandman-S is the “little brother” to the Sandman-L, and while it may be smaller, it still retains all of the performance. Featuring a low blowback design, the Sandman-S is touted for not only its compact construction but also for its impressive noise reduction at the ear.

Why We Like It:

  • QD mounting system for easy on-off
  • User-serviceable for easy cleaning
  • Great sound reduction for the size

Dead Air Sandman-S Specs

  • Weight: 17.7 oz
  • Length: 6.8″
  • Finish: Cerakote
  • Materials: Stainless Steel and Stellite
  • MSRP: $1,049

BANISH 223

Even though “223” is in the name, it’s actually capable of handling bullets up to .224″ in diameter, so you’re good to go with rifles chambered for the .22-250 cartridge. It also means you can use it on the ever-popular AR-15 in .223/5.56 and a wide variety of other firearms and calibers.

Why we like it:

  • Completely user-serviceable
  • Light weight and compact length, but still great sound suppression
  • Uses standard ½ x28 thread pitch for attachment

BANISH 223 Specs:

  • Weight: 9 oz
  • Length: 7″
  • Finish: GunKote
  • Materials: Titanium
  • MSRP: $849

Yankee Hill Machine TURBO T2 5.56

Coming in at less than $600, the YHM TURBO T2 provides a lot of bang for your buck. This is important when you consider how much suppressors can cost even before you factor in the mandatory $200 tax stamp on top of the regulat purchase price. Like the BANISH 223, even though this one has “5.56” in the name, it’s still safe to use with the .22-250 cartridge – and plenty of others as well.

Why we like it:

  • Includes a Q.D. Muzzle Brake, Phantom Q.D. Adapter, and two suppressor wrenches
  • Tubeless design of stainless steel and Inconel means it is ful-auto rated and designed for rigorous use

YHM TURBO T2 5.56 Specs:

  • Weight: 12.8 oz
  • Length: 6.5″ w/ QD Adapter
  • Finish: Black
  • Materials: Stainless Steel and Inconel
  • MSRP: $576

BANISH 30

The BANISH 30 is a direct-thread suppressor that mounts on conventional 5/8×24 threads and comes out of the box as a 9″ suppressor holding eight baffles, but the modular design means you can shorten the length by two inches and set it up for your specific needs. Because it’s a .30-caliber can, there’s a lot of compatibility with other calibers aside from the .22-250 Remington.

Why We Like It:

  • Modular design to fit specific needs
  • User-serviceable for easy cleaning
  • Titanium offers great strength with minimal weight

Banish 30 Specs

  • Weight: 10 oz or 13 oz
  • Length: 7″ or 9″
  • Finish: GunKote and DLC
  • Materials: Titanium
  • MSRP: $979
